What a day! After Hollie Avil's sensational World Cup debut early this morning in Ishigaki, we now have TWO more winners out in Port Elizabeth. Both Stephen Bayliss and Bella Comerford have secured stunning wins in the Spec-Savers Ironman South Africa today.

A well executed race, finishing with a great 2:51 marathon allowed Stephen to earn an almost 5 minute win against local hero, and previous winner Raynard Tissink. His finish time of 8:18:23 is, we believe, a course record and also one of the fastest Ironman distance times ever recorded by a British athlete. Though overshaded by the win, Jersey based Nick Saunders finished a fine sixth overall, recording an exellent 8:42:24

Bella had to dig deep, very deep to secure victory - starting the run over 17 minutes down on Lucy Zelenkova, victory seemed a long way away. However, Comerford & Italy's Edith Niederfriniger (2nd last year) had other ideas! After catching Zelenkova late in the event, they ran neck & neck almost literally to the line...where Bella was able to sprint to the win, by just five seconds in 9:27:48! What a day for the couple, who are due to marry later this year.
