Last week we previewed in depth the prospects of British Age Group athletes at the 2015 Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Zell an See-Kaprun, Austria. As highlighted in both the women's and men's events, based on the past three editions, top results at this championship are very hard to come by. That said, we did highlight a few names that we thought may do well.

With the racing now complete, it's time to have a look at how they did. Below, we present the full listing of British top-ten Age-Group finishers in Austria, alongside their category and finishing time. As with the awards in Kona, the prizes are awarded five deep in each category - with those 4th / 5th place finishers also highlighted in blue.

Women's Review

Of 50-54 athlete Gill Fullen we said " If we had to put our money on one British medal, Gill would be our selection as she is a class performer and still getting faster." That proved to be spot on, with Gill once again producing a big performance to take Gold by three and half minutes.

That wasn't the only British Gold however, as Lucy Charles - who we also highlighted in our preview - won the F18-24 category by a whopping six and a half minutes. We'd said of Lucy "The former international swimmer will likely be the fastest through the water all day. She's no one trick pony however...". Her swim time of 22:57 was only 45 seconds slower than Javier Gomez! Lucy was also the fastest British Age-Group athlete of the day and the third fastest Age-Grouper overall.

There was a silver medal too for Alison Rowatt in F30-34 . "She rarely, if ever, seems to have a bad race" was our pre-race comment, and she delivered - yet again! She was the fourth fastest Age-Group athlete overall, just 1:37 behind Lucy Charles.

Another medallist from the names we picked out was Jane Hansom. She really needed her running legs though, crossing the line just 17 seconds clear of fourth place - having run almost five minutes faster. Small margins, but Jane was on the right side to take Bronze. Can she do the same - or better - in Kona?

The final British female top-three finisher was Peggy Crome (F70-74), previously a British Triathlon Age Group Athlete of the Year winner, while Jane Leslie (F60-64) also made the podium with fifth place in F60-64.

Men's Review

The men's 50-54 Age Group would prove to be the most successful for the British men. We mentioned Richard Hobson in our preview piece, and he would eventually finish fifth (unfortuately, he missed the awards thinking that he was actually sixth). However, one athlete we hadn't mentioned was Ed Nicoll, who went two places batter in the same category to take third place.

The fastest British Age-Grouper of the day was Ross Simpson (4:22:55), and that time was enough for Ross to take fifth place in the M30-34 category.
