Great Britain’s Stephen Bayliss has consistently been one of our most successful Ironman athletes over the best part of a decade, having gained a total of ten Ironman podium finishes, winning Ironman UK, Ironman South Africa, Challenge Vichy and Challenge Henley along the way.

Based for much of the year now at Sands Beach Resort (www.activelanzarote.com) in Lanzarote, he had a ‘local’ race at the recent Lanzarote International Duathlon (See race report and image gallery), and I spoke to him shortly after he took third place there, where he outlined his plans for the season. Qualifying for Kona and “achieving a top-10 finish before I retire”, and running regularly Sub 2:45 in Ironman events are among his targets for 2015, and he’ll be starting that campaign at Ironman Lanzarote.

Check out this interview, where Stephen is joined by son Charlie.
