For lovers of mud, rain and generally utterly miserable conditions that was a belter of a weekend! Whatever it was that we did to upset the weather gods it must have been bad... But, for the off-road brigade it was ideal with the rain helping to rinse off the spatter.

First of the weekend's outings into the bits of countryside that the Army spends its time blowing chunks out of was at Ash Ranges for WildMan. Dafydd Hollis lost a bit of time on the bike to the top team entry but gained it all back on the second run to claim the win and top spot on the series leaderboard with Callum Hughes and Roger Fowkes not far behind. Fay Cripps opened her account in similar style ahead of Samantha Aplin, another regular at these events. Full results, now that the software glitch has been sorted, are all up HERE.

Saturday also saw the St Lucia Triathlon taking place in rather warmer and altogether more relaxing circumstances. Results for that are online HERE.

If Saturday's rain was manageable, Sunday's was really determined to go the extra mile. There's a rather nice park in Milton Keynes that now looks more like Glastonbury than somewhere that held the registration area for a gentle 5k/10k run. We did the Muddy Mo a couple of weeks ago but Campbell Park's redways clearly have more mud in (and now on!) them than the whole of Swinley Forest!

The Chilly Duathlon at Castle Combe doubled up as the BUCS Duathlon Championships so you get two winners for the price of one. The open event went to James Coleman (ENVE-OnePoll) and Nicole Walters although the fastest time overall by 1.4 seconds was for Team 41. In the BUCS Championships Liam Lloyd (University of Leeds) and Sophia Saller (Oxford University) topped the podium. Full results for both are on the DB Max site HERE.

In Scotland it was the start of their Winter Duathlon Series organised by Aberdeenshire Council. The opener was at Inveruruie and honours went to Andy Williams (Total Endurance/Fleet Feet) and Julie Wilson (Triathlon Inverness). Results are online HERE.

Also north of the border and in what looked like brilliant sunshine too, was the first of the three Bowhill Duathlon races organised by Durty Events. This was the Short version with a run followed by a bike and Greig Walker (Velo Moulin) and Rosemary Byde (Edinburgh RC) head up the results which are online HERE.

Tri Purbeck's Sika Duathlon saw racing from both the adults and the kids. In the grown-up event Rob Wood and Louise Fox came out on top (full results HERE) while the TriStars results are HERE.
