Austria’s Eva Wutti completed her third career Sub-nine hour iron-distance finish at Ironman Barcelona on Sunday, crossing the line in 8:49:21 to break the course record that she set last year when the event was run as Challenge Barcelona.

ITU World Long Distance Champion Camilla Pederesen, who has had such an incredible season after recovering from horrific injuries which saw her in a coma this time last year, took second place (also Sub-9). Great Britain’s Susie Hignett – who just a few weeks ago finished 12th in the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Mont Tremblant, Canada - completed the podium in third place, looking very pleased with her days work at the finish line – and with a 9:03:32 debut, why not. That makes her the ninth fastest British female iron-distance athlete all-time.

Challenge Weymouth winner Eleanor Haresign finished just in front of second placer that day, Joanna Carritt, as they took 13th and 14th respectively in 9:31:11 and 9:31:25.
