Great Britain's Stuart Hayes enjoyed a superb finish to his 2013 season - and possibly one of the best wins of his career - by taking victory yesterday at the Life Time Tri Oceanside, the final round of the Life Time Tri Series ( The series is the premier U.S. based non-drafting Olympic Distance Series, with Oceanside also joining Minneapolis and Chicago as part of the 'Toyota Triple Crown'. Stuart was third in both of those races.

Along with fourth place in Tempe and second in Dallas, Stuart's Oceanside victory was enough to leave him second in the 2013 Life Time Tri Series to Cameron Dye in the 'five events to count' format.

Those efforts earned Stuart $8,000 for the Oceanside victory along with an additional $25,000 for second place in the series. Laying in fourth place ahead of the double points Oceanside event, that win proved to be a very healthy one financially.

Hayes, along with Ben Collins, Cameron Dye and Eric Lagerstrom were able to put time into the field on the bike after a swim which saw 12 athletes - including series leader ahead of Oceanside, Hunter Kemper - exit the swim within 20 seconds. Hayes proved to be the stronger of that group on the run, his 33:17 was actually the third quickest of the day, and brought his home to a hard earner 12 second margin of victory over Eric Lagerstrom with Cameron Dye (winner in Minneapolis, Tempe and Dallas) completing the podium and taking the $50,000 series bonus.

Alicia Kaye continued her domination of the series - having finished second in the first race (South Beach), she has since won everything else (CapTex, Minneapolis, Chicago, Tempe, Dallas and Oceanside). Six wins from seven races, very impressive.
