Great Britain's production line of multisport talent was in the medals once again at the ITU World Duathlon Championships in Ottawa, Canada this weekend, collecting two Gold and two Bronze medals across the Junior and Under-23 World Championship events.

Richard Horton was arguably the breakthrough athlete of 2012 - winning the British, European and World Junior Duathlon titles in his first season in the sport. He has been racing most of this season in the British Triathlon Super Series, where his weak(er) swim discipline has made it difficult to make the impact that his bike and run talent would otherwise allow, but back into run-bike-run action, could he add the World Under-23 Championship to the Junior title? Of course he could.

With the Juniors and Under-23 athletes racing together, Horton joined Juniors Jorik Van Egdom (NED) and Anders Lund Hansen (DEN) 54:05 in a bike breakaway which would see that trio cross the line first. Horton made sure he wasn't going to be beaten by Van Egdom for 'first across the line honours', the talented Dutch athlete adding the World title to his impressive European Championship win earlier this season in Horst, while Horton made it a second World Championship. Behind Van Egdom and Lund Hansen, Calum Johnson - who recently won the British Elite Triathlon Championships (Sprint) in Liverpool - took the bronze medal.

In the Junior women's discipline, Georgina Schwiening has a hat full of medals - Silver last year, alongside European Silver in both 2013 and 2012. Silver no more though, as Schwiening joined with eventual Under-23 champion Fasungova on the bike to build a big lead and take her first World Championship win. Bronze for Great Britain in the Junior event too via Kate Curran.
