Tuesday 7th August 2012 was an incredible day for British T(t)riathlon as we finally secured an Olympic medal. And then 30 seconds later, another one! Living up to his favourite tag and all of the home country pressure, Alistair Brownlee delivered in fine style at an event watched by hundreds of thousands of spectators in and around Hyde Park.

Here is a image gallery of his day via the photographic skills of the ITU's team of Delly Carr and Janos Schmidt.

Post-race Alistair said he felt good all day - and that day was started with a great swim, exiting the water in the leading group of six with a 20 seconds margin over the chasers.

No mount-line dramas for Alistair!

By lap three, the chase pack had reeled in the leading five.

Very quickly, and appropriately, the best three male triathletes in the world were alone and clear at the front of the race.

Eliminating the myth of 'favourites don't win the Olympic Triathlon', an amazing moment for Alistair.

Possibly my favourite image of the day - respect between two legends of the sport.

It's all over, you are Olympic Champion!

The highest quality podium you could have created.
