The Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas saw a dominant Jordan Rapp take his fourth Ironman title, to add to his ITU World Long Distance Championship win.

Switzerland's Matthias Hecht set the pace on the bike with a stunning 4:18 split, but Rapp looked in control after a fine 4:25 bike split himself, and proved that he is more than just a 'biker' by finishing with a 2:46:55 marathon. Hecht suffered for his efforts on the bike late in the run, but still looked set to take second until a flying Justin Daerr caught him in the last mile.

Having picked Rasmus Henning for the win - the Dane fading badly on the run to seventh - we at least got the ladies race correct, as Mary Beth Ellis broke Cat Morrison's 2011 race record to record her second sub-9 finish and, like Rapp, her fourth Ironman title. Ellis spent the swim and bike in close company with Amy Marsh, the pair reaching T2 together. 25 minutes back at this stage, the fast running Caitlin Snow went to work, and while the win proved too much, a fabulous 2:51:46 marathon brought her through to second, with Marsh taking third.

We recently interviewed Corinne Abraham, and she had the race of her short triathlon life to take fourth place in a massive personal best time. Having had a tough introduction to professional triathlon in 2011, that was a had earned and well deserved result. Congratulations Corinne!
