Great news for the 'Duracell Bunny' and new ETU Powerman Duathlon Champion Lucy Gossage

Chain Reaction Cycles are delighted to announce our sponsorship of British triathlete Lucy Gossage.

Based in Cambridge, England, Lucy has now completed seven Ironman races as an amateur including two appearances in the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii (2008 and 2010). With the exception of Nice, she has been offered a Hawaii slot in every national Ironman she's raced. In 2010 she was third amateur at the Ironman European Championships in Frankfurt and she got fourth place in the 30-34 age group in the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii (with a time of 10:01:04 she was the fastest British age-grouper and eighth female amateur overall in the competition).

Her forays into the triathlon world began in 2006 when she entered Ironman UK in response to a dare by friends. Having not really believed she would finish, she was astounded to find out at work the next day she had won her age group.

Lucy is a qualified doctor and made the jump to professionally race middle distance triathlons last year. Her debut season was amazing, with results including a second place at TriGrandPrix UK; third place at Ironman UK 70.3; her first pro win at TriGrandPrix Navarra and then a first at Ironman 70.3 in Galway, Ireland. 2012 has started well for Lucy, taking the win at the Elite British Duathlon and second place at Challenge Fuerteventura earlier this month.

Commenting on her partnership with CRC, Lucy explained that the timing couldn't be better!

"It's amazing that CRC are supporting me this season, it's been ideally timed as my current bike was getting to the end of its lifespan, and the support of the world's largest online bike store will really help me in competition this season."

Lucy will ride a Vitus Chrono TT bike and Vitus Vitesse road bike for the 2012 season. The Chrono, now in stock at features lightweight components throughout to complete a race-ready package aimed at the serious triathlete.

Simon Cordner, PR Manager at CRC said:

"We've been watching Lucy's progress over the last few years and have been impressed with her dedication and development. With wins at the 70.3 in Galway and her recent result in Fuerteventura, we're sure 2012 will be a great year of results for Lucy. We hope that our new Vitus Chrono TT bike and the backing of CRC will assist Lucy this season, starting what we hope will be a long partnership."

We'll have regular updates from Lucy over the year, with reports from her races and an all new five-part training plan to assist all of you who are training for your first long-distance tri or Ironman.
