Welcome to the newsletter

It's barely mid January, and we can already start looking forward to some interesting early season international racing. The World Triathlon Corporation 'M-Dot' events return to the calendar this coming weekend after a few weeks break, with 70.3 events in both Chile and South Africa.

We've got our eyes on the Spec-Savers Ironman 70.3 South Africa, where former ITU World Champion in aquathlon, duathlon and triathlon, Tim Don, lines up alongside Fraser Cartmell, home favourite Raynard Tissink and Frederik Van Lierde (BEL), in his first Ironman 70.3 event. Unfortunately Chris McCormack has withdrawn with illness, but it will be interesting to see how he performs at the longer distance.

The omens for a solid performance are good - Germany's Andreas Raelert failed to make the Beijing Olympic squad, and then subsequently finished a very close second at the Ironman 70.3 World Champs, and followed up by winning Ironman Arizona. Just this past weekend, ITU World Cup Series winner last year, Sam Warriner won the New Zealand long distance championships over the Half Ironman distance, breaking a 13-year old course record.

As promised, we announced last week the winner of our November Gatorade Athlete of the Month award. The winner was Colin Dixon, and you can find out more about Colin by reading the full article HERE.

Finally, the TCR Show 2009 (www.tcrshow.com) is less than a month away now. Check out our great competition below to win tickets to the event, free entry to the Saucony 10k @ TCR plus running vest and shorts. Could you be one of our FIVE lucky winners?!
