Weekend action

Weather-wise it wasn't the kindest of weekends although some seem to have got away without either wind or rain -- which probably tells you more about the vagaries of the British climate than any amount of studying meteorological forecasts for hours! And, for sure, the water temperature is taking a nose dive which all means that the season is rapidly hastening towards a close. However, for those not involved with (or just watching) the Hyde Park events there was plenty going on.

Saturday saw the Buttermere Triathlon up in Cumbria hand out the top awards to Alistair Robinson (Keswick Bikes) and Hannah Horsburgh and there's a full set of results HERE.

The Ocean Lake Sprint Series produced wins for Dan Sims and Lucy Tomlinson, there are results HERE but the file is corrupt so we can't currently add them to the archive.

Middle distance racers were off at the Sundowner Triathlon with Sam Baxter (Team Freespeed Virgin Active) and Sally Hughes (Mansfield Tri Club) listed as the winners. Results are on the StuWeb site HERE.

Scotland will definitely have had some of the more varied weather this weekend: rain, wind, sun and cool according to the records, but that clearly didn't stop nearly 200 triathletes doing the TriCentre Gullane Beach Triathlon. Andy turnbull (Stirling Tri Club) and Rosemary Byde topped the results and there's a full set HERE.

Dorney Lake took Saturday off but with over 1,600 triathletes scheduled for the HSBC Triathlon on Sunday that was just to get all the racking in place! With distances from 'Fun' through to standard and a duathlon chucked in for good measure it was certainly a very busy day. Headline winners of the standard distance were Christopher Symonds (Enfield & Haringey) and Victoria Plummer (Hot Chilli Tri), full results for all the races are HERE.

The Votwo crew must be among the most travelled in the country as they shuttled everything back down to Padstow for their standard and sprint distance races. Described as having a 'proper' sea swim - for which you can read 'waves' - the standard was won by David Walder (Hot Chilli tri) and Andrea Gealer (Virgin Bristol) - full results HERE. The sprint distance went to Ian Wright and Alicia Livingstone - results HERE.

Results are also up for the Lake Logic End of Season' Triathlon (HERE), the Ipswich Duathlon (HERE) and StuWeb has details on the Petersfield Triathlon HERE. More to come as we process all the ITU results out of Hyde Park and add them to the archive as well.

Weekly Training Tip: stop fogged goggles

TTH Weekly Training Tip

Mix a small amount of washing up liquid and water in an old body spray bottle to have handy to clean your goggles with and stop fogging. Rinse well but avoid using your fingers as it will not work as well.
