Tri247 Newsletter

26th Jan 2010Issue 146

Welcome to the newsletter

Almost a month of the new year has passed, and finally we have a weekend where (almost...) all of the planned races were able to go ahead without interference from the weather. If you were out there this past weekend, an overdue welcome to the 2010 season.

As January draws to a close, that of course means that the TCR Show ( will soon be with us, as the annual weekend of all things triathlon, cycling and running hits Sandown Park. Why not take your valentine there this February 14th?! We will be bringing you previews of the event, the features, the exhibitors and more over the next couple of weeks as TCR 2010 looks set to be the biggest yet.

Tri247 will be there across the weekend as always, and we look forward to meeting many of you in person at the show.

Simon Roxburgh reports from the Llanwrst Winter Duathlon, where a rather swift schoolboy took the honours.

"The winners of the first Llanrwst Winter Duathlon are, Trish Mellor, first lady, and Ryan Mullen first male. This was Ryan's first go at a duathlon, the fifteen year old local schoolboy, a prodigous time trialling talent has been snapped up by Planet X, and proved his ability by crushing the field on the bike with a winning margin of seven minutes on a tough lumpy course. Having won the George Herbert Spencer Trophy (previous winners include Chris Boardman, Ian Stannard) for the fastest schoolboy in the UK over 10 miles, his is a name to look out for in the future. Personally we hope he will stick to cycling in the future!!!"
