Race Details
Race Type:
Run (6.5k)  /  Bike (35k)  /  Run (6.5k)

This year's Cambridge Duathlon was every bit as successful as previous year's races and produced good competition across the field. Luckily for the competitors the day started off with a clear skies and sunshine. The good weather was finally broken by a heavy April shower, which caught a few slower athletes on the second run. The wind was light and the flat East Anglian terrain provided for some fast times. Colin Lewin from Colchester Tri was in the leading group after the first 6 kilometer run. He faced strong opposition from Nigel Arnold of Runners Centre, who led the second combined veteran and female wave. Colin secured victory by putting in the fastest individual bike split of the day, leaving second and third place to Nigel Arnold and Paul Jezewski of JE James RT. Cambridge Triathlete Rachel Horn looked very strong and won the women's event comfortably by a large margin. Helen Wainright and Sarah Woods from Wight Tri were second and third respectively.
