World paratriathlon champion Jane Egan is urging people to sign up for Tri Together, a new triathlon event run by the charity Leonard Cheshire Disability.

Tri Together takes place on Sunday 11 September 2011 at the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre in South London. It is uniquely designed so that both disabled and non-disabled people can take part.

The event is supported by Tri247, Triathlon England and the Crystal Palace Triathlon Club.

Jane Egan, World Paratriathlon Championships winner in 2010, only took up triathlon two years ago, after she was diagnosed with a neurological disorder and had begun to use a wheelchair.

World paratriathlon champion Jane Egan is urging people to sign up for Tri Together, a new triathlon event run by the charity Leonard Cheshire DisabilityJane says: “I had always enjoyed sport and didn’t want to give it up. I found triathlons were not only great fun, but felt inclusive too. Everyone who is doing a triathlon knows it is tough, which is why they encourage each other along the way, creating a fantastic atmosphere. It is a great way to cement friendships and meet new people.”

Tri Together is a chance for everyone over the age of 17 to have a go at a short distance triathlon, either on their own or in a team of two or three. As well as having fun and challenging yourself, you will be raising money to help Leonard Cheshire Disability to continue supporting thousands of disabled people across the UK.

The charity will also be hosting a taster session for people who are new to triathlon or who would like to try out the course. The session will take place between 10 am and 2pm at the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre on Saturday 11June. Present on the day will be triathlon coaches and experienced sport professionals, including Annie Williams, a qualified Specialist Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist and experienced Ironman Triathlete from Pure Sports Medicine.
