Ex-triathlete (he was an AG silver medal winner at the Ironman 70.3 World Champs in 2007 you know...!) Richard Iles of RaceNewForest (www.RaceNewForest.co.uk) is planning to try and get himself into shape and take on his own series of events for charity...but all in one week!!!!

Richard writes:

“In May 1991 I took part in my first triathlon. Based out of Ringwood Recreation Centre in the beautiful New Forest it was the hardest thing I'd ever done. The event was won by a young Spencer Smith and to cut a long story short I was hooked, racing and training regularly and experiencing many great events in some fantastic locations.

"Nowadays I'm better known as Director of RaceNewForest's own events and it will doubtless come as a huge surprise to the vast majority of our competitors to find out that I've ever raced at all! Not for a few years, I'll admit, but in 2011 I'm going to make up for lost time by taking on all seven of our major RaceNewForest events on consecutive days, finishing with The ForestMan Iron Distance event on day seven.

  • Monday (Aug 8th) - The Boskman Swim 2.6km, Bike 126km, Run 21.1km
  • Tuesday (Aug 9th) - New Forest Middle Distance Swim 1.9km, Bike 90km, Run 21.1km
  • Wednesday (Aug 10th) - The Swashbuckler Swim 1.9km, Bike 81km, Run 22.6km
  • Thursday (Aug 11th) – OLT Swim 1.3km, Bike 45km, Run 16km
  • Friday (Aug 12th) - The New Forest Standard Tri Swim 1.1km, Bike 36km, Run 10km
  • Saturday (Aug 13th) - Sprint Triathlon Swim 0.75km, Bike 25km, Run 6km
  • Sunday (Aug 14th) - The Forestman Swim 3.8km, Bike 180km, Run 42.2km

All that gives a 7day total of:

  • Swim 13.35km (8.25miles)
  • Bike 583km (362miles)
  • Run 139km (86.4miles)

"Apart from the challenge of seeing just how this 50 yr old body reacts to the trauma of being dragged out of the pub and (hopefully) into something approaching race shape I'll be trying to raise as much money along the way as possible!!”
