Terenzo Bozzone (NZL) has been one of the busiest, and most successful athletes of the 2010 season, and he continued that form on Sunday with another win, this time at Amica Ironman 70.3 Rhode Island. Off the bike, it was Australian based Brit Paul Ambrose - a fifth place finisher at the 2009 ITU LD Worlds - who lead onto the run course, his 2:15 bike split over three minutes ahead of Bozzone, Tim Berkel (AUS), Richie Cunningham (AUS) and veteran Brit Rich Allen.

Ambrose ran well, but the speed of Bozzone and Berkel was too much, and he finished in third. Bozzone and Berkel were close throughout in a battle of youth, but the Kiwi just got the better of the Aussie, to record yet another 2010 win. Considering we are still only in early July, Bozzone has done a vast amount of racing already - and should have a very long results CV come the end of season!

Rich Allen finished sixth (4:09:05), after reaching T2 in the company of Terenzo Bozzone.

Our prediction of a Kiwi double didn't quite materialise. Sam Warriner was the first back to T2, closely followed by the hard-riding Trek/K-Swiss athlete Heather Jackson who rode over four minutes faster than any of the other ladies, making up for her usual slower swim. However, the experienced Kate Major (AUS) proved to be the strongest on the day, her consistent splits across all three disciplines being just enough to hold off the scorching run speed of Caitlin Snow (USA). At the line Major had a buffer of just 22 seconds.

Lesley Patterson from Scotland, the silver medal winner at XTERRA World's in 2009 took ninth (4:45:01), not able to show her usual speed on the run course.
