A couple of weeks ago, a new iron-distance race for the UK was announced by One Step Beyond Promotions, to be held in Nottingham on 8th August 2010. What wasn't clear at the time was exactly what it would be called. All has now been revealed in the following press release. You will be racing in:

The Outlaw Triathlon

Dear Fellow Outlaws

We promised we would let you have information as soon as it's confirmed, making sure you're the first to know our plans. So here goes...

First things first - the name. This has generated a lot of interest on various forums, but no one managed to guess it. The UK's premier 2010 Iron Distance event will be called The Outlaw Triathlon. Those who successfully complete the course will become one of Robin Hood's Outlaws.

Secondly the cost, this will be £179. Included within this fee, will be your race entry, exclusive Outlaw medal & race t-shirt, invitation to the pre race pasta party, drink voucher for the post event party and various items which will fill your athlete's outlaw goodie bag. Relay Team entries will be accepted at a cost of £220.

Thirdly following consultation with various different parties and having listened to your thoughts on the forums, we have made the decision to loop the run back to Holme Pierrepont for the finish. This means that the Start, both Transitions and the Finish will all be safely contained within the grounds of the National Water Sport Centre, along with our exciting race expo!

Finally for now... the event will be running alongside Nottingham's Riverside Festival. The festival offers lots of entertainment and activities, with a colourful and vibrant programme of live music, performance, arts and fairground attractions. The Riverside Festival is a unique Festival that covers a distance of one mile along the banks of the River Trent, at Victoria Embankment, adjacent to the historical Trent Bridge.

The festival will provide athletes and their families with plenty to do throughout the race weekend, as well as contributing a few thousand additional spectators to the event!

Thanks again for your support and if you feel you know anyone else that would be interested in the event get them to sign up too! Remember, entries open on 1st November!

Yours in sport
