Second edition of Gloria IRONMAN 70.3 Turkey is a success

Last weekend saw the second edition of IRONMAN 70.3 Turkey take place in Belek, Antalya. With its great weather and easy access from the UK, it is an ideal choice for UK-based athletes planning their 2017 schedules wanting some late season sunshine and racing.

The event is supported and sponsored by Gloria Sports Arena (www.gloriasportsarena.com.tr), with this years race attracting athletes from 51 different countries. After the home country of Turkey, the largest overseas representation was from Great Britain.

This year’s Gloria Ironman 70.3 Turkey competition was held in honor of Nuri Özaltın, the founding President of Özaltın Holding (owners of Gloria Sports Arena), who passed away in July this year this July.

Jonas Schomburg from Turkey took overall victory in a time of 04:01:10, with Thomas Huwiller from Switzerland second clocking 04:01:11. Jeremy Morel (FRA), who competed under the sponsorship of Gloria Sports Arena came third in an overall time of 04:05:48.

Roksolana Ishchuk (RUS) was the fastest female with the overall time of 04:41:48, Ece Bakıcı from Turkey came second clocking 04:43:31 while the American Rene Wendy Mader came third in the overall time of 04:47:41.
