![]() Silver for Steadman as Norman takes Rio Gold Posted on: Sunday 11th September 2016 Bookmark This | Print This Page | Send To A Friend | Post A Comment Grace Norman edges Great Britain's Lauren Steadman to take Paralympic GoldAt just 18 years of age, the USA's Grace Norman added Paralympic Gold to her 2016 Paratriathlon World Championship victory in Rotterdam, to take the PT4 category in Rio and push pre-race favourite, Lauren Steadman, into Silver alongside Copacabana Beach. After leading out of the swim, Norman's early lead was closed down in T1 by Steadman, and that duo were set for a battle which would leave all of their contenders several minutes behind and see the lead change through each discipline. Working hard on the bike, Steadman - with the knowledge of Norman's running prowess - was able to gain a small lead at T2, but it was certainly not a race-winning one at that stage. Midway through the run Norman had fought back to take pole position by seven seconds at the halfway mark, and she would go on to reach the blue carpet and collect the first Paralympic Gold medal in women's triathlon.
