  • Final day of adidas Team GB ‘kitting out’ takes place on Saturday
  • Team selections for athletics, gymnastics and golf confirmed this week, with rugby to follow on Tuesday
  • Lightweight kit, designed by adidas and Stella McCartney has athletes on track for success in style

Tomorrow (Saturday) sees the final Team GB athletes collect their lightweight adidas and Stella McCartney kit for Rio 2016. Over three weeks, 350 Team GB athletes have visited the Birmingham NEC to pick up 180,000 pieces of competition kit in 500 different designs.

A number of high profile athletes posed for pictures in their adidas kit as they prepared to pack their bags for competition, including Jessica Ennis-Hill, Tom Daley, Laura Trott, Alistair and Jonny Brownlee, Nicola Adams, Christine Ohuruogu, Jo Pavey and Chris Walker-Hebborn.

The creative design process for the 2016 adidas Team GB kit took more than two years and included extensive consultation between Creative Director Stella McCartney and the nation’s leading athletes, as well as cutting-edge performance testing and sport-specific tailoring.

Jessica Ennis-Hill said: “Rio is my absolute focus right now; I am going out there aiming for the podium. So much has changed for me in the four years since London 2012, but I’m just as determined to do my very best.

“Seven events requires organised packing! I've got different technical footwear that is specific for the demands of each event and then a range of apparel to wear across the two days of competition. I can’t wait to put on the Team GB colours, it’s always a very proud moment.”

Every element of the 2016 Olympic range features the latest adidas technology, designed and developed to ensure it performs better than ever before. A new generation of lightweight, breathable synthetic ADIZERO® fabric has been used to create outfits that are on average 10% lighter than 2012, helping athletes go further and faster.
