Simon George: ready to make amends at the Outlaw Half Holkham

After that finish at the Outlaw Half last month, second-placed then Simom George looks as through he will arrive at this weekend's Outlaw Half Holkham in fine form and determined to go one better following a fine performance on Sunday at the Woodhall Spa Triathlon, which attracted its biggest ever entry of 800 athletes.

He'll be hoping that the finish line picture is just a touch different to this one on Sunday!

Outlaw Half finish 2016

George and Grocock win at biggest ever Woodhall Spa Triathlon

Local boy Simon George smashed the course record at the biggest ever Woodhall Spa Triathlon in Lincolnshire on Sunday 26 June. George took two minutes off the sprint distance triathlon course record at the final race of OSB Events Midland Sprint Series.

OSB Events owner and director, Iain Hamilton, set the early pace with a quick time in the first wave. However, George showed his form with a 57:45 win after the 400m open air pool swim, 24km bike and 5km run in perfect summer conditions.

George was recently second at the Outlaw Half Nottingham, only beaten after more than four hours of racing in the final 200m by Karl Alexander. They are both set to race this weekend at the Outlaw Half Holkham in North Norfolk.

Tfn’s Mark Redwood, a former winner and regular top performer at Woodhall was second, and is also set to race in Holkham this weekend. Peter Goodfellow was third.

In the field of 800 athletes, 300 were female, making it a really competitive race. Top woman was Amy Grocock, another excellent local athlete. Her margin of victory was just 32seconds over Belper’s Rebecca Lineker thanks to a strong run. Third place was Sarah Richards, just one second behind Lineker!

The next OSB Series will be the winter events, which are open for entry now via www.osbevents.com. Entries are also open for the hugely popular Club Relays in August.
