The Ridley Dean FAST of Philip Graves

The winner of Ironman UK back in 2009, Philip Graves ( has been making waves this year on the domestic time-trial circuit.

With ongoing running injuries frustrating his triathlon ambitions, Phil decided to race as much as he could this year while continuing with his rehab and time-trialling has provided the opportunity to do that. With 15 wins from 16 starts and the RTTC Classic Time Trial series already won, it has already been a successful year with more still to come. To that, you can add personal best times at 10-miles (18:20) and 25-miles (46:28). The 25-mile time (which is 32.3 mph / 51.9 kmh average...) made him, at the time, the fifth fastest all-time over the distance (behind Matthew Bottrill, Michael Hutchinson, Dave McCann and Chris Boardman).

Let's take a look at the bike he's been winning on.

A closer look at the Fibre-Lyte 57 tooth front chainring. After running out of gears during an early season TT, Phil realised he need to increase his front chain ring size for time-trialling where absolute speed is key - with no run to follow or save anything for. The result was this carbon option; find out more HERE.

From the rear of the bike you get a glimpse of how close Phil has his extensions to optimise aerodynamics. Again, with no compromise to running afterwards, comfort can be traded for speed when you are racing over 'just' 10 or 25 miles.
