Holland wins, Brownlee third… and Gomez is back in action at French Grand Prix Series

A couple of weeks ago I highlighted a (Vicky Holland inspired) feature on the success so far this season of British Elite female athletes in draft-legal competition. You can read that HERE. At the time, Vicky joked:

Well, Vicky got her first win of the 2016 season on Sunday at the French Grand Prix Series Dunkerque, the first round of the team-based race series which attracts many of the world’s best athletes.

It was also the first time this year that Javier Gomez has been in (triathlon) racing action – he has recorded a 15:56 for 1500m in the pool (!) – and a fourth place finish with E.C. Sartrouville team mates Kristian Blummenfelt (NOR) and Jonathan Brownlee in second and third respectively, will be just what he was looking for ahead of the ETU European Championships this coming weekend. Australia’s Under-23 World Champion, Jacob Birtwhistle (Valence Triathlon) took the win.
