Emma Pallant earns her second IRONMAN 70.3 podium of 2016 in Barcelona

Plenty of podium success for British Age-Group athletes too...

On a busy weekend of 70.3 racing, current ITU World Duathlon Champion Emma Pallant is looking in good form as she prepares to defend that title in Aviles in two weeks time. So far, Spain has been good to her. Third two weeks ago at a rain-soaked IRONMAN 70.3 Mallorca, she went one better this weekend at IRONMAN 70.3 Barcelona to take second place, despite suffering some early mechanical issues on the bike. Another two weeks and another one step up the podium at the Duathlon World Champs would do very nicely and keep that Spanish progress.

After taking her first Pro podium three weeks at 70.3 Pays d’Aix, it was fifth place this time around for Nikki Bartlett who was a little frustrated with her efforts.

Age-Group excellence

There are few British AG athletes as consistently excellent as Alison Rowatt (Team Freespeed Skechers Performance). A regular feature on World Championship podiums, Ali was the first AG athlete overall and her time was also the fourth fastest female time of the day. That earned her first place in F35-39. Other British podium results included:

Chantal Cummings – 1st (F25-29)
Michelle Gautier – 2nd(F50-54)
Patricia Mellor – 3rd (F55-59)
Jane Leslie – 1st (F65-69)
Finlay Mcandrew – 2nd (M25-29)
Neil Eddy – 1st (M30-34)
Mark Skelton – 1st (M50-54)
Simon Jack – 2nd (M65-69)
