Susie Cheetham ends 2015 with victory in Sardinia

Two weeks on from her fantastic debut sixth place at the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Great Britain's Susie Cheetham travelled to Challenge Forte Village in Sardinia unsure of what, if anything, she had left to close out her racing year. She need not have worried. Third in 2014, Susie was able to move up to the top step of the podium and take the win (and the EUR 5,000 first prize), ahead of Maja Stage Nielsen (DEN) and Marta Bernardi (ITA). With a win at Ironman 70.3 Dublin, alongside a host of podium finishes through the year, Susie can go into her first winter as a full-time athlete full of confidence about her potential for 2016.

Vanessa Raw (4th), Kim Morrison (6th) and Georgie Rutherford (9th) made it four Brit women in the top nine.

There was a close finish in the men's race, where Alessandro Degasperi (ITA) just go the better of Filip Ospaly (CZE) in very final stages of the run.
