Key points:

  • There will be long distance events, "bigger and better", in Weymouth in 2016
  • The event date is confirmed as 11th September 2016
  • "It's now time for us to move forward in a new direction"
  • "Announcement with full details soon"

Long distance triathlon in Weymouth...

Over the past five years Just Racing have experienced continued growth and success with their delivery of Challenge long distance triathlon races in the UK, culminating in the successful delivery of the ETU European Long Distance Championships at Challenge Weymouth, this September.

Alan Rose, Managing Director of Just Racing (Challenge) said, “We have loved being part of the Challenge Family and I am really proud to have helped establish and develop Challenge Family triathlon in the UK. Whilst we wish Challenge Family continued success, it's now time for us to move forward in a new direction.”

Although the contract with Challenge Family has come to an end, Just Racing will be building on their experience and expertise gained in previous years, to produce an even bigger and better event in Weymouth in 2016.

Planning is already underway for next year's long distance events in Weymouth for 11th September 2016, so watch out for an announcement with full details soon.

Cllr Jason Osborne, Weymouth & Portland Borough Council's Briefholder for Tourism and Culture and Harbour, said: “We are delighted that Just Racing will continue their Sporting Partnership with Weymouth, building on the Olympic legacy.

“The event brings in tourism and visitors to the town and we look forward to working with Just Racing as they continue to deliver a world class long distance triathlon event."
