Cartmell qualifies for Kona in Bintan, Indonesia

Fraser Cartmell's name appeared on the start lists for both Ironman Copenhagen and Ironman 70.3 Budapest which raised an eyebrow in the weekend preview. Clearly he couldn't race both and in fact he raced at neither, but instead made the trek out to what used to be MetaMan Bintan and is now part of the Ironman 70.3 family. While there was no fairy tale ending in terms of Sunday’s result (23rd place, seventh male pro), there was method – and success – in making that long trip, as it looks as though it has resulted in Kona qualification on what was the last weekend to secure Kona Pro Ranking (KPR) points:

Scanning the results did flag up a couple of age category winners to: Jeremy Snoad (M50-59) and Victoria Hill (F40-44) with Mike Hooper taking second in the M55-59 and Martin Reynolds third in the M45-49 as well.
