Orca RS1 Dream Kona Racesuit comes to market

Early in 2015 we took a trip to Playitas Resort in Fuerteventura to meet up with the team from Orca (, where I chatted to the reigning Ironman World Champion Sebastian Kienle.

The main purpose of the trip was the official launch of Orca's new groundbreaking wetsuits, the Alpha and Predator, highlights of which were the incredible new 0.88 Free material. While were there Orca also showed us some pre-production samples of the aero skinsuit that Sebastian wore when winning Kona last year, called the Dream Kona, which I also previewed at the time.

Not available to buy at the time, the (full title...) Orca RS1 Dream Kona Racesuit will now be available for purchase from Tuesday 18th August 2015 via and from Orca's premier dealers. Here are the full details from Orca.

Dream Kona

Kienle's Kona winning suit now available for everyone

Since being worn by Sebastian Kienle to win the Ironman World Championship in Kona in 2014, everyone has been wondering how he or she can get their hands on their very own Orca RS1 Dream Kona Racesuit. And now the wait is over! This revolutionarily aerodynamic sleeved race suit is now available online and in selected retail stores.

Dream Kona

RS1 is Orca's premium triathlon apparel range and stands for performance, speed and aerodynamics. We know this because we test them! Whether in the wind tunnel, or being proven in the gruelling Kona race conditions, these styles are put to the test and necessary adjustments made until we're certain our gear is going to give our athletes the optimum advantage on the race course.

Dream Kona

AeroSkin fabric on the front panel and sleeves of the Dream Kona suit reduce drag in the swim and improve aerodynamics on the bike. Specially positioned seams as well as the use of these sleeves improve aerodynamics even further – in fact 30.8w were saved when tested compared to our best sleeveless race suit at -10yaw angle in a wind tunnel. Oxygen fabric with Coldblack® heat reflection technology makes it feel like you're wearing a white suit – perfect for hot conditions such as Kona to keep you cooler. This suit is not only fast, but also comfortable, with fully bonded seams making the silhouette of the suit smooth whilst also improving comfort. And an innovative 80kg density Italian chamois with 2-5mm thickness and all-way stretch guarantees total freedom of movement with an excellent fit. The RS1 Dream Kona really is your best bet for long distance racing with speed and comfort.

Dream Kona

Sebastian Kienle has since gone on to wear the RS1 Dream Kona to win Ironman 70.3 Kraichgau, Andrew Starykowicz set a new bike course record at Challenge Roth while wearing this suit, and Susie Cheetham won the inaugural Ironman 70.3 Dublin in the pink accented women's version.
