Great Britain's Vicky Gill continued her development as a multisport athlete yesterday by narrowly missing out on a medal at the 2015 ETU/Powerman European Long Distance Duathlon Championships in Horst ann de Mass, The Netherlands.

In 2010 Vicky finished as the first female Age Group athlete overall at the Edinburgh ITU World Duathlon Championships shortly after coming into the sport from a strong running pedigree. Continuing to develop since then, she had arguably her best result to date last season when taking the Bronze medal at the ETU European Long Distance Triathlon Championships at Challenge Almere, securing an iron-distance PB in the process.

After an illness-impacted race in Horst last season, this time around Vicky finished just 11 seconds behind Maja Stage Nielsen (DEN) who took the Bronze medal, to add to the Bronze the Dane won last year at Challenge Paguera (Mallorca), which hosted the ETU European Middle Distance Triathlon Championships. The Gold in Horst went to Laura Hrebec (SUI) with Silver to Sara Dossena (ITA).

In the Men's Elite race the Belgians dominated again, taking Gold and Bronze through Kenneth Vandendriessche and defending champion Rob Woestenborghs. Vandendriessche in doing so stepped up one place from his 2014 Silver, while Daniel Formela (POL) split the pairing to take Silver.

In his first start for the GB Elite team, Julian Lings (who won the 25-29 Age Group in 2014 at the Powerman World Championships in Zofingen, Switzerland), finished 13th as the sole GB entrant in the Men's Elite race (2:32:07).
