Dutch athlete Yvonne Van Vlerken is one of the most successful long distance triathletes of all time. With seven sub-nine hour iron-distance finishes, she is second only to Chrissie Wellington (with nine) in that regard, on the all-time listings.

Yvonne regularly spends the early part of the year training in Lanzarote, at the base of one of her sponsors, Trisports Lanzarote (www.trisportslanzarote.com).

Yvonne recently kicked off her 2015 season with another win at the Lanzarote international Duathlon, and shortly afterwards I spoke to her about her love of racing, training under coach Siri Lindley, her hopes to be racing on ‘home’ soil at the inaugural IRONMAN® Maastricht-Limburg in The Netherlnds... and not being able to do her ponytails due to injury!
