How do you win the Ironman World Championships when you start the run the best part of 15 minutes behind the outstanding long course athlete of 2014, Ironman 70.3 World Champion Daniela Ryf? When you are Australia's Mirinda Carfrae, you break your own run course record with a truly sublime and way beyond 'impressive' 26.2 miles (in 2:50:26). Stunning, absolute class from the now three-time Ironman World Champion.

A stunning race, a brilliant debut from Daniela Ryf (SUI) who showed that the class that has seen her crush everything in her past during the second half of 2014, and another Kona podium for Great Britain's Rachel Joyce who once again delivered in the lava fields. Jodie Swallow too, put her 2013 meltdown behind her (and overcame a four minute penalty), to prove (that she ever needed to?), what she can do to take fourth place and sow the seeds to come back in future years where a podium finish, at least, surely awaits.

Superb racing from brilliant athletes - the ladies have seriously raised the bar.

Lots more details to come very soon, as soon as we've recovered!
