Three weeks ago we brought you our roundup of notable 'triathlete' performances at the annual County Cross Country Championships, which took place up and down the country on the first weekend in January.

The standard of competition moved up several levels this past weekend with the Regional Cross Country Championships; the Northern Champs (Knowsley Safari Park), Southern Champs (Parliament Hill) and Midlands Champs (Leamington) attracting many of the top distance runners from all over Great Britain. Here are a few names we noticed - if we've missed anyone of note, email us via editor@tri247.com and we will update for you.

Midlands Champs (FULL RESULTS)

Three times World Championship medallist Tom Bishop (Team Derby Runner) produced one of the best results of the weekend, finishing fourth in the Senior men's race, 45 seconds behind race winner Jonathan Thewlis (Notts AC).

In the Female Under-20 event, Sophie Coldwell (Charnwood AC) took second place, just 10 seconds adrift of Lucy Hayes (City of Stoke AC), while there was a third place for George Goodwin (Rugby & Northampton) in the male Under-20 race.

Southern Champs (FULL RESULTS)

Current World Under-23 Duathlon Champion Richard Horton finished 14th at the iconic Parliament Hill event in the Senior Men's race.

Top triathlete finishers we spotted in the ladies race were Hannah Kitchen (18th) and World Age Group Sprint 50-54 Champion Clare Elms (24th).

In the Under-20 race, World Junior Duathlon Champion Georgina Schwienning (Cambridge & Coleridge) was tenth.

Northern Champs (FULL RESULTS)

2012 World Champion and Olympic Bronze medallist Jonathan Brownlee (Bingley Harriers) was an uncharacteristic 21st in the Senior Men's race, in some seriously muddy conditions.

World Age Group Sprint Champ (25-29), Emma Holt (Morpeth Harriers), was 14th in the Senior Ladies.

In the Junior event, British Triathlon Champion from Liverpool last year, Calum Johnson (Gateshead AC) took the top spot on the podium.
