There was tough competition at Castle Combe yesterday at the British Universities & Colleges (BUCS) Duathlon, held as part of the 9Bar Chilly Duathlon at the racing circuit.

First across the line for the men was Oli Mott (Cardiff Metropolitan University), but he would shortly afterwards be disqualified for incorrectly racking his bike in T2. That meant that the win went to the current World Under-23 Duathlon Champion Richard Horton, who just 12 hours or so earlier was collecting the British Triathlon Male Elite Duathlete of the Year award in Birmingham. With five athletes in the top eight finishers, Loughborough University were the clear team champions, alongside Richard's individual gold.

The women were lead home by Charlotte Taylor (University of Warwick) - a World AG Champion in London - ahead of Sophia Saller and Vicky Johnston. Current World Juniior Duathlon Champion Georgina Schwiening was fifth. It was a team gold for Loughborough in the women's event to complete the double
