Great Britian's former ITU World Champion at Triathlon, Duathlon and Aquathlon added to his extensive career CV on Sunday by adding a win at Ironman 70.3 Augusta to his July win at 70.3 Calgary.

A speedy swim was enough for Don, Nils Frommhold (GER) and Paul Matthews (AUS) to secure a break on the bike with the trio reaching T2 together, a minute clear of Maxim Kriat (UKR) who, despite mathcing their bike pace, was still playing catch-up from the 1.9km swim. Don, who has a 28:56 10km to his name, was able to use that foot speed to close out the race with a swift 1:11:42 run (fastest of the day), for a dominating and decisive victory. Great Britain's Rich Allen took eighth (3:57:43).

Typically known for her slow(er) swim, when Ironman 70.3 World Champion Melissa Hauschildt (AUS) exited the water fourth, barely 20 seconds off of the pace of 2011 Augusta winner Emma-Kate Lidbury, the writing was perhaps on the wall for the the women's Pro race. A fine rider herself, Lidbury lost over six minutes on the road to the flying Hauschildt who reached T2 with clear lead over the Briton. Another race best half marathon from the Aussie (1:18:59) made the victory a totally comprehensive one.

Having lost over three and a half minutes in the water, the USA's Ruth Brennan Morrey grabbed back around 90 seconds on Lidbury during the ride and then was able to move through to second on the run, her 1:22:05 comparing to the 1:26:55 of Emma-Kate. Brennan Morrey is a class athlete though, recently taking third place at the ITU Powerman Long Distance World Championships in Zofingen. Still another podium finish for Lidbury to add to her wins in Kansas and Texas.
