A great start to the weekend on the international scene with Jodie Swallow proving (again) that she really is a class athlete and when she has everything sorted the results will come. Check out John's report on Ironman Kalmar HERE. Swallow's win should put her top 5 in the women's Kona Points Ranking depending on how things work out at Ironman Mont Tremblant.

Pos Men Women
1 Pedro Gomes (POR) 8:19:30 JodIe Swallow (GBR) 8:54:01
2 David Plese (SLO) 8:22:01 Eva Nyström (SWE) 9:17:56
3 Anton Blohkin (UKR) 8:26:09 Britta Martin (NZL) 9:22:18

Powerman Austria saw Matt Moorhouse just miss the podium with a 4th place while Amy Wolfe (IRL) was sixth in the women's field.

Indeed, fourth seems to have been the popular number this weekend as Daniel Halksworth filled that spot at Ironman Mont-Tremblant and boosted his Kona Points Ranking to 28th on the back of that Bolton win. Paul Amey took 11th place while Liz Blatchford stayed in the fight for a female podium slot right to the end -- and, yes, you've guessed this one already -- she was fourth!

Looks like Jacqui Slack picked up another win at XTERRA Germany and Llewellyn Holmes was 13th.

Saturday's domestic calendar saw the Scottish Middle Distance Championships at Aberfeldy with wins going to Fraser Cartmell (Stirling Tri Club) and Eleanor Haresign (TORQ). Full results are HERE.

Swim legend Richard Stannard had a bit of a shock on Saturday at the Liquid Leisure Aquathlon - Katie Henderson, fresh from her victory at the English National Aquathlon Championships, led out of the water with Glen Hall second and Stannard third. Richard made up on the run but Katie went on to break the women's course record with a 28:30 ahead of Katie Henderson who herself set a course record there at an earlier event this year. Full results are HERE.

The Lakeland Triathlon (aka the Bass Triathlon after its home at Bassenthwaite) saw victory go to John Hore (Carlisle tri Club) and Anna Turvey who placed fifth overall obliterating the rest of the women's field by over 20 minutes. Full results are HERE.

Welsh Triathlon had a selection race for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in the form of an elite supersprint held at Parc Bryn Bach, Tredegar. There's a full set of results HERE and the podium positions were:

Pos Male Female
1 Liam Lloyd Carol Bridge
2 Morgan Davies Elinor Thorogood
3 Luke Watson Ffion-Haf Harrett

The ECF Monster Middle Distance was led home by a name that a) we are normally more familiar with for his off-road exploits and b) we keep thinking that he's retired... ...which can only mean that Sam Gardner (Berkshire Tri Squad) was the name in question! Leading female was Vicky Gill (SwimForTri) and she placed ninth overall, chicking some pretty decent names in the process. Full results are on the StuWeb site HERE. The standard distance race was won by Neil Reid (Army Triathlon) and Becky Schofield (Tri-Anglia) and the results are HERE.

F3 Events were back on the Thames again, this weekend it was the turn of Shiplake near Henley on Thames with all the results for both the standard and sprint distance races and the three swims all on the StuWeb site HERE. The standard distance race went to Jason Lee (Team MK) and Rachel Hallam while the sprint winners were Danny Russell and Hannah Johnston

The re-born Salford Triathlon was won by Alex Lawton and Rebecca Brand (Manchester Tri) and there's a set of results online HERE. The sprint race went to Alex Foster (Astley & Tyldesley) and Pauline Munro, the results are HERE.

The fourth outing of the Thorpe Sprint Series saw wins for Paul Burton (Black Line London) and Fiona Love (Clapham Chasers), a full set of results are HERE.

The Bexhill Triathlon provided wins for Sam Wade (Team Pro Motion Dynamics) and Deborah Coyle (Greenwich Tritons) - full (provisional) results are HERE. Results from the Macclesfield Triathlon are HERE and the headliners were Ian Lawton and Rebecca Holland (City of Chester Tri Club).

Tewkesbury Tri Club's Hardwick Sprint was another of this weekend's events timed by the StuWeb crew and you can check out the results HERE. Overall winners were Garry Hughes and Vickie Wilkinson.
