Another year, and (yet!) another challenge for Mike Trees is seems. In 2013 Mike ahcieved the double when winning the Aquathlon and Sprint Distance Triathlon at the ITU World Championships in Auckland (M50-54), and he now has his sights on some record breaking and medal winning in the running world.

On Saturday, Mike set a British Record (50+), on the 50th anniversary of the British Milers Club - and did it at the venue of Roger Bannister's first 'sub-4' minute mile, setting a time of 4:32.05.

Mike Trees Managing Director of TCL Sports (the company behind; 2XU, Newton Running and GU Energy) believes that if you want to perform at your best you have to use every aspect of modern technology at your disposal, to give you that edge over the competition. His own desire to find the most technologically advanced products to help his own performance has aided us all as he has then bought such products to market in the UK. As you can see, Mike certainly practices what he preaches….

Today was the 50th Anniversary of the British Milers Club (BMC). To celebrate they held a Grand Prix event on the iconic Iffley Road Track in Oxford. It was this very track that Roger Bannister ran the first sub 4 minute mile.

At the age of 50, Mike was so happy to finally get a British record, for the mile, an event that he started running over 40 years ago, and to do it on the BMC 50th anniversary, in Oxford made it all the more special.

For the record, at the start of the year, the British (M50) record stood at 4:46.51 (John Telford 2009), It was smashed by Guy Bracken on 19th June he who ran 4:37.2 On Saturday Mike managed to take a further five seconds off it :)

Mike's next stop...... the World Masters Games 1,500m in Turin Italy in August.
