Looks like Wales delivered on the weather again for the second running of Ironman Wales in Tenby - lots of umbrellas in evidence in the finish line photos!

Men's winner Sylvain Rota kept the Ironman Wales title in French hands, following the five second victory of Jeremy Jurkiewicz last year. Both Rota and ladies winner Regula Rohrbach (SUI) smashed the 2011 winning times in setting new course records.

Ireland's 'green machine' Eimear Mullan took second place, and in doing so completed the 'ultimate challenge' of all of the UK & Ireland Ironman races (Bolton, Tenby, Wimbleball and Galway) in one season - and with two wins and two second places from those four races, she can be more than pleased with her return. Third place went to Joanna Carritt in what we think will be one of her best races ever, considering the toughness of the course in Tenby. In doing so, Jo secures her second Ironman podium finish following Ironman UK in 2010.

Both Rota and Rohrbach secured their wins with dominating rides around the challenging Welsh terrain to arrive at T2 in the lead. While neither added the fastest run splits to their bike efforts, that didn't matter as they closed the deal over the 26.2 miles to take their first Ironman wins, the previous best from Rohrbach being two fourth place finishes at her home Ironman Switzerland.

Top British male was Ironman UK winner Daniel Halksworth in fourth, while Bolton third placer Paul Hawkins took tenth to also complete the 'ultimate challenge' foursome.
