A full field of 270 entered either the 1 mile or 2 mile swim organised by Tri Ferris Promotions at Waterland Outdoor Pursuits, Cotswold Water Park in the clear gravel bottom lake. First off were the one mile swimmers; which for the past two years has been won outright by Sharna King, but this year she had some competition from the men and it was Junior Aron Wilkinson (Celtic Tri) who came home first in 20:07, with a commanding lead over Andrew Nokes of Trowbridge and Simon Harvey from Woking. Shana of Swimpodium took the women's trophy from Youth Alice Anger and one time elite junior triathlete Joanna Toon (nee Hind).

In the two mile event as last year John Wood of Bad Tri took control and was never challenged, but Oliver Newcombe of David Lloyd Cardiff did get a little closer to him this year and gained second place over Oxford's David Denny. Just in front of Denny was Wood's training partner Claire Hann (BAD Tri), who had a fantastic swim to finish third overall and first female, ahead of 52 year-old Shirley Yarde of Somerset and Oxford's Zsuzsanna Felvegi.

Everyone seemed to enjoy the course and many of the faster guys stayed to cheer in the slower swimmers, making a really friendly atmosphere as last finisher in the two miles, Vivien Hollis commented, "Generous applause at the finish line, welcomed me in like a winner which was very kind. I had a lovely swim and look forward to swimming with you all again."
